The New York City subway is cheap, quick and reliable. Get a map and study it as it covers the whole city and may be a little confusing at first. Taxis are cheap and effective around Manhattan however the prices can really add up if making multiple trips per day. Depending on where you want to go, you will find that many places in Manhattan are very easily accessible on foot.
